Dawgs Fall to Ninth-Seeded Dillard
Fisk commits 19 turnovers and loses by 18.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Fisk University Bulldogs fell to the Dillard University Bleu Devils 72-54 in semi-final action in the Gulf Coast Athletic Tournament. The loss ends Fisk's season with the most wins (13) since 2013. Now the ninth-seeded Dillard will take on the second-seeded Philander Smith Panther for the GCAC title.
Despite having 10 first-half turnovers, Fisk found themselves down only by four points in the half. Injuries took a toll in the second half, as the Bulldogs, who were already playing without third-leading scorer, GCAC second-teamer Tyon Thompson, saw Jayden Lockett and Tyree Martin go down with injuries.
Despite the injuries, Lockett still led his team with 13 points and Marin grabbed a game-high 10 boards to help his team outrebound Dillard 37-31. Blake Goodman added 12 points and Michael Ashley just missed getting a double-double, ending his career with a nine-point and nine-rebound effort.
