Buckhanon Wins Fourth GCAC Play of the Week Honor
NEW ORLEANS, La. – After another strong week for the reining NAIA National, Tennessee Sports Writers Association, and Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Maya Buckhanon was named the GCAC Player of the Week was the fourth time this season.
Buckhanon had double-doubles in both games. Against Talladega, she went back to her old stomping grounds, scored 24 points, and grabbed 16 rebounds in the first Fisk win in the program's history over Talladega. She was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line. She followed that up with a 28-point, 12-rebound effort in a close game against NCAA DI Austin Peay. Her 14-of-15 proficiency from the charity stripe gave her a 22-of-23 total for the week.
Buckhanon is also nominated for the NAIA National Player of the Week and Tennessee Sports Writers Association for the second consecutive week.
