Lady Dawgs Finish Three-Game Alabama Road Trip at Samford
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (November 17, 2024) – After a tough conference loss to Stillman College, the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, will be back on the court today when they take on NCAA DI Samford University (0-4) (5 p.m. ESPN Plus).
Fisk (1-3) is in the middle of a grueling part of the schedule, where they are playing four games in six days. The Samford game is a Homecoming for Fisk Head Coach Victoria Crawford, who grew up in Birmingham and her senior season, she was the leading scorer in the state.
"It is good to be back home, but we have some work to do," said Crawford. "They are looking for their first win, so we don't except for them to just lay down on us. It is good to get back on the court. Samford will give us some challenges, especially with their length. This part of the schedule is tough on the girls' bodies, but we will need to get used to it come tournament time."
KEY MATCHUP
Samford 6'5 post Emily Bowman will be a factor in trying to keep up for Fisk. Crawford will run multiple front court people at her. 6'3 Keeli Burton-Oliver will get the first crack at her, then 6'2 Dee Scott. Fisk will need to also watch out for Samford's perimeter shooters if they decide to sag in.
