NASHVILLE - For the second time in less than a month, the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs are set to challenge the No. 2 ranked team in the country, the Bethel University Lady Wildcats. The previous meeting took place in McKenzie, Tennessee, where Bethel secured a decisive 78-42 victory over Fisk. Bethel's success was fueled by a relentless defensive effort that limited the Lady Bulldogs to just two points in the first quarter, combined with exceptional perimeter shooting that resulted in 16 made three-pointers.
Fisk head coach Victoria Crawford has assembled one of the nation's toughest nonconference schedules, pitting her young squad against four NCAA Division I schools along with perennial NAIA powerhouse Bethel. This challenging slate is designed to provide valuable experience and prepare the Lady Bulldogs for the rigors of HBCU Athletic Conference play.
Bethel University enters the game averaging 81.2 points per contest, with four players posting double-digit scoring averages. Micha Hart leads the team with 18.8 points per game, followed closely by Mikee Buchanan at 17.5. Madison Hart and MJ Simmons add to Bethel's offensive strength, averaging 14.7 and 10.1 points respectively, while Adalyn Koelling contributes 9.6 points per game.
Fisk will look to counter Bethel's high-powered offense with the HBCUAC's leading scorer, Kayla Lee, who boasts an average of 19.7 points per game. Freshman standout Ari Branch also plays a key role in Fisk's attack, contributing 14.0 points per contest.
