Gymnastics Shows Improvement at TWU Quad Meet

DENTON, TX. - After consistent improvements last week at George Washington University, the Fisk University Bulldogs buckled down in the gym to bring that same energy all the way to Texas. The Bulldogs spent their Friday evening competing against the University of Forida Gators, the Arizona State University Sun Devils, and the host Texas Women University Pioneers.
Once again, Fisk opened the competition on the floor exercise. Starting off strong, Allie Berkley received a well-deserved season high score of 9.75. Senior Aliyah Reed-Hammon maintained that energy with a 9.575. Junior Ciniah Rosby showed consistent grit and growth in the sport with a 9.7. Freshman Kennedi Johnson scored a solid 9.525. Senior Zyia Coleman also achieved a season high of 9.775, proving her balance of power and grace. To keep the good news going, Aiyana Thomas made her collegiate floor debut with a strong 9.3.
Next up on vault, Johnson led the lineup with a 9.475, followed by a strong fight from Coleman. Freshman Hadassah Diggs delivered a powerful 9.575. Reed-Hammon built upon her teammates' momentum with a 9.65, and Berkley did the same with a 9.6. To finish out a solid vault lineup, Rosby put up a 9.55.
The Bulldogs pressed on to uneven bars. Thomas kicked things off with a 9.125. Coleman (9.2) and Rosby (9.325) both put up strong routines that continued to build as the lineup played out. Johnson added a stuck dismount and a 9.1 to the mix, followed by a grit-filled routine from junior Sophia Pratt. Diggs wrapped up the bar rotation, moving her team along to their final event.
Fisk finished the competition on beam with two more season highs! Starting off strong, Reed-Hammon confidently put up a 9.8, followed by a beautiful routine from Pratt. Berkley delivered a phenomenal routine and earned a season high score of 9.725. Rosby added a solid 9.425 to the mix, Diggs followed with a well-fought routine. To round out the beam rotation, Johnson had a no-fall beam routine, a season high score, and a career high score of 9.55.
As the season continues, the Fisk Bulldogs continue to push themselves to get better each day. They will continue this energy forward into practice this week and move right along into the last double meet weekend of the season. These athletes have really shown what it means to work hard and pull it all together for the team.
Follow the Fisk Bulldogs for their last double meet weekend of the season! The ladies will be at Centenary College on Friday, March 6th (7:00 PM) and in Atlanta for the HBCU Classic on Sunday, March 8th (3:00 PM).
