Gymnastics Sending Six to National Tournament
Four seniors, a junior and a freshman head to Pennsylvania to represent Fisk Gymnastics.
WEST CHESTER, Penn. - The Fisk University Gymnastics Team has had a season of continuous hard work, growth, and true grit. Through weather setbacks, loss, and injuries, this team has pulled together to push forward for this remarkable final season. Many athletes achieved new personal bests as well as stepping up to compete new skills and events for their team.
After sending seven qualifiers to nationals last season, this year, the team will send six gymnasts to compete in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championships (WCGNIC) in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The six gymnasts will compete in 11 events, a high for Fisk in the national tournament.
"I'd say sending six is a pretty good season," said head coach Nuriya Mack. "With only 11 on the roster, it is quite an accomplishment to qualify these many athletes. It truly shows the dedication, talent, and determination of all the athletes, coaches and staff.'
This final season for Fisk Gymnastics has been anything but easy, it has been filled with hard work, heartache, redirection, and refocusing. Each gymnast has fought to cement a beautiful legacy for this historical program and each of them will continue to achieve great things in the future.
