Dawgs Fall to East Leading Stillman
Kaleb Jeffries scores 29 points in tough loss on the road.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –The Fisk University men's basketball team traveled to Tuscaloosa, Alabama looking for their second upset over Stillman College this season. After trailing by 11 points at the half, they rallied back and took a two-point lead with 1:20 left in regulation but committed two costly turnovers and lost 68-65 in HBCU Athletic Conference East Division play from Stillman's Birthright Alumni Hall.
"They are the division leaders, and we had them on the ropes again and let them off," said Fisk head coach Jeremiah Crutcher. "Those turnovers late hurt but we still had a chance at the end for the tie. We are trending in the right direction. We are preparing for the tournament. To me it will be a good one."
Freshman Kaleb Jeffries scored a game-high 29 points, with his final points coming in a three-point basket to give Fisk the late lead at 63-61. Stillman then went on a 7-2 run to finish off the win. Fisk's Trenton Connolly was able to get off a three-point shot that would have potentially tied the game. It looked like he was fouled but there was no call as time expired. The first game against Stillman this season was an overtime win by Fisk at home.
Josh Alexander II had his second double-double of the season, both against Stillman, with 13 points and 12 rebounds, including his first three-point basket of the season.
