Lady Dawg Gymnastics Team Head to the Midwest for Two Meet Weekend
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Fisk University Lady Bulldog gymnastics team return to Cape Girardeau, Missouri on Friday, February 6, following a momentum-building performance at Georgia that highlighted the team's continued growth and resilience. With each week, the Bulldogs have shown increasing consistency and confidence as they look to put together a complete performance. The meet will take place of the cancelled January 25 meet at William & Mary due to weather.
Friday's quad meet will feature the Bulldogs facing Southeast Missouri State University for the third time this season, Bowling Green State University, and meeting Simpson College for the first time in school history. They will then head to Ohio to finish their two-meet weekend against host Bowling Green State University and HBCU foe Wilberforce University on Super Bowl Sunday.
"Our scores have been hovering just below the 190 mark in recent competitions," said Fisk head coach Nuriya Mack. "We want to enter the weekend focused on execution across all four events, with the hopes of continually improving."
Lineup changes will be minimal and strategic as the team looks to continue building on the recent progress. The Bulldogs will begin the competition at SEMO on floor exercise, rotate to vault, move through uneven bars, and close the meet on balance beam.
Floor Exercise
The floor lineup remains largely unchanged with one adjustment, as Makia Rosado and Aliyah Reed-Hammon swap positions within the rotation. Senior Jordynn Cromartie will lead off, followed by classmate Liberty Mora, freshman Makia Rosado, senior Aliyah Reed-Hammon, junior Ciniah Rosby, and senior Zyia Coleman closing the event. The focus remains on maintaining tempo and establishing an early foundation for the meet.
Vault
Vault has been an area of steady improvement for the Bulldogs, highlighted by a season-high performance at Georgia. This weekend, the team will look to build on that momentum and push toward a 48+ team score. The lineup features Hadassah Diggs, Kennedi Johnson, Coleman, Rosby, Rosado, and Reed-Hammon closing the rotation.
Uneven Bars
On bars, the Bulldogs continue to work toward consistency and rhythm, implementing slight routine adjustments to maximize scoring potential. The lineup includes all three freshmen in Hadassah Diggs, Kennedi Johnson, and Rosado, with sophomore Aiyana Thomas, and veterans Coleman, and Rosby. Clean execution and controlled handstands remain the emphasis.
Balance Beam
The Bulldogs will close the meet on balance beam, targeting a 48+ team score as the lineup holds steady with minor adjustments for rest. Mora leads off, followed by senior Jordynn Cromartie, Diggs, Rosby, Reed-Hammon, and Coleman anchoring the competition.
