 NASHVILLE - The Fisk University Bulldogs are gearing up for a pivotal Senior Night doubleheader against Oakwood University, with tip-off times set for 6:40 PM for the women's game and 8:40 PM for the men's contest. Both games carry significant implications for postseason positioning as Fisk looks to extend their winning streak and secure favorable seeds. The Athletic Department will honor seniors from Cheer, The Dance Team, Men's Basketball and Track & Field in ceremonies before each game. 

Lady Dawgs Take on Top Seeded Oakwood

The Ambassadors currently lead the HBCUAC East Division with an impressive 9-1 conference record, positioning themselves for the top tournament seed and an automatic NAIA postseason berth. Oakwood relies on a dynamic inside-outside combination, featuring Saniyah Keys—who dominated against Fisk last season—and sharpshooter Trenisha Adams.

Fisk University enters the matchup ready to counter with their own blend of interior and perimeter talent. Standing out is 6'3 post player Dee Scott, who has delivered double-doubles in three of her last four games, anchoring the Bulldogs in the paint. The guard tandem of Kayla Lee and freshman Ari Branch adds further strength; Branch recently exploded for 40 points in a win over Dillard University, while Lee recorded a triple-double and set a personal best with 35 points in the victory against Simmons College.

All three players—Scott, Lee, and Branch—have established new career scoring records during Fisk's ongoing four-game win streak, demonstrating their ability to step up in crucial moments. Their performances have been instrumental in fueling the Bulldogs' momentum as they approach this pivotal conference clash.

 After dominating the series for years, Fisk will look to snap a two-game losing streak against Oakwood. In December, the Ambassadors surged to a 75-64 victory in Huntsville, Alabama after the game was tied after three quarters. Last season in Nashville, the Keys hit  basket in the final seconds to defeat Fisk by two points.

Bulldogs Aim to Sustain Momentum in Conference Showdown

The Fisk University Bulldogs are determined to build on their recent victory over Simmons College as they head into the crucial final stretch of the regular season. With postseason play quickly approaching, maintaining their winning streak is essential for improving their conference standing.

A win against Oakwood University would be especially significant, as it would bring Fisk level with Oakwood in terms of conference losses. This scenario sets the stage for an exciting and highly competitive final week of play, with both teams battling for favorable postseason positioning.

Fisk will be challenged by Oakwood's standout players, Jordan Bell and Chase Jackson, known for their talent and impact on the court. However, the Bulldogs are well-equipped to respond, boasting the conference's leading offense. Senior Mark Cooper anchors the team, ranking third nationally in assists and providing leadership and playmaking ability. The Bulldogs' offensive firepower is further enhanced by their three-point shooters: Senior Nicholas Beaird-Kennard, who has made 69 three-pointers; classmate Kailon Benton-Hamilton, with 49 threes; and freshman Kaleb Jeffries, who has contributed 46 from beyond the arc. Benton-Hamilton also made a notable impact by scoring 29 points off the bench in the win against Simmons College.
